The Capital Area Food Bank currently distributes food to over 700 charitable organizations in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Northern Virginia. Through organizations such as emergency food pantries, youth programs and emergency shelters we are able to serve 1.6 million meals each month to the working poor, children, battered women, the elderly, homeless and the unemployed.
Each of these organizations is a member agency with the Capital Area Food Bank. This means they have access to inexpensive reclaimed and donated products, free fresh produce and breads, and emergency food commodities from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
